This image was taken on March 17th at 3:55pm. It was a perfect day; clear, sunny and 70 degrees! On St. Patrick’s Day!

Using a single focus point, I focused where their faces are touching at f/2.2. It’s pretty risky to photograph two people at f/2.2, but I selected this aperture for several reasons. First of all, I wanted to shoot as shallow as possible because the trees were rather boring in the background (nothing was yet in bloom). Secondly, neither of them was looking at the camera, so I wasn’t worried about sharp eyes. And lastly, distance from camera to subject was on my side… remember, depth of field increases with distance. If I were taking a closer, tighter shot, I would have probably stopped down the aperture.
