It’s hard to believe that his miracle baby entered the world just one short week ago.
I was so happy that I was able to spend time with Bennett and his parents this afternoon, I can’t even believe how wonderful he looks. Every little wrinkle in his skin is beyond precious.
Watching Jason with his son makes my heart swell, he is most definitely a doting father.
And Kelly. Wow, it’s hard to even describe how wonderful I think she is, her personality lights up a room. And watching her with Bennett (here come the tears)… is so moving, so incredibly special.
It was hard to distract her from Bennett long enough to get this image, but I think it’s so important to show how overjoyed she is with every single second she spends with him. Every parent should have this much perspective.
And watching them talk about every little move, every facial expression, every squeak was priceless.
This is Jason’s reaction when he suddenly remembered that tomorrow is their ten year wedding anniversary. They recalled how they assumed that this anniversary was going to be very difficult, but instead they were blessed with their sweet baby boy. Kelly was telling him that this was the best anniversary present ever.

I’m happy to report that Bennett is doing very well and is no longer attached to any tubes, he only receives basic monitoring. But please keep him in your prayers, he will continue to undergo testing as there are concerns about his brain. I pray that this miracle baby continues to defy the odds.

I just wanted to say thank you to Kelley and Jason for allowing Heather to share these beautiful moments with the world! My son was in the NICU fighting to survive for 37 days and so I understand what they are going through right now. When I read the article about their story in the PG, I was in tears knowing how difficult the journey they were embarking upon can be. While they may still have some hurdles to overcome, I am so happy that Bennett is doing well and off support. I will continue to pray that he stays on the quick road to recovery! What a blessing he is!

My husband was told he could not have children. By the Grace of God, we have 2 beautiful boys that look JUST LIKE HIM! Always remember, GOD “CAN” still work miracles and does each and every day. Take every picture you can because as he grows, you can’t get back that moment. My house is filled with my boys and their arts and crafts. In my old age, I will look at their stuff and remember how presious they were when they did it. Steven is 10 and Mitchell is 5. My how they have grown. I too am a parent of a miracle baby who defied the odds. I was told she would not make it to term – she is now 6 years old and doing great. I know that does not always happen. Congratulations on the birth of your son Bennett; he is absolutely beautiful! Our only grandson was born at 26 weeks, weighing only 1 pound 7 ounces and 12 inches long. He spent approx. a little more than a week in Magee Hospitals N.I.C.U..The flood of emotions and uncertainty can be very hard on everyone.Do not loose faith or hope,because miracles do happen ,and ours will turn 8 years old on Nov.21. Kelly and Jason, Enjoy every moment of every day with your little guy. My husband and I have a son who has defied all odds and we had no idea what was going to come of things. But after celebrating his 5th birthday, he continues to grow and give us such incredible moments and memories. Embrace each day and moment that you spend with him. Try not to worry so much about the “what ifs”. Enjoy today. He’s such a miracle!
